Being John Malevich

Kelly Wearstler pre-fall 2013 rtw

Kelly Wearstler’s eye-catching striking geometric prints, bold textural variation and avante-garde silhouettes are inspired by the Suprematism art movement of World War I Russia. Suprematism ( Супрематизм) was a robust art movement, focused on basic geometric forms, such as circles, squares, lines, and rectangles, painted in a limited range of colors. In essence the Russian answer to cubism. The art form was founded by Kazimir Malevich in Russia, in 1915. The name suprematism refers to an art based upon “the supremacy of pure artistic feeling” rather than on visual depiction of objects.

Wearstler’s esoteric pre-fall collection is hip-to-be-square.

Agh I need this in my life!!
